1887 KALAMAZOO BATS N690-1

Issued in 1887 by Chas. Gross & Co. of Philadelphia, the N690-1’s are the largest of the Kalamazoo Bats issues. The cards come in two distinct types; Type 1’s are most common and contain no advertisements. Type II’s contain an advertisement on the black mount of the card.

It is believed that these scarce cards were packaged inside boxes of Kalamazoo Bats cigar boxes. These boxes are incredibly difficult to locate. Since 1995, I have only been able to document the existence of four boxes, only one of which being sold at public auction.

Approximate value of an empty box would be $1500.00+.
